Chapter Fourteen

Some kisses could stop the hands of time, turn back clocks, shape the course of history.

This was one of those kisses.

It started with the softest brush of skin on skin as if we were just coming together for the first time. Warmth radiated out from my chest as a tingle began somewhere lower. My body had waited a long time for Dax. It knew who it wanted, and it wanted him now.

But Dax seemed tentative, as if he was unsure of himself, something the Dax Murphy had never been. Had prison changed him? Then, it would be up to me to change him back. I grabbed his shirt and slung my leg over his, straddling him. His eyes darted up as surprise and excitement lit up his face.

“I’ve waited a long time for this, Mr. Murphy.

“Winter, I—”

“Never mind. Talking takes up too much time.”

I yanked his shirt open, revealing his smooth pecs and abs— body I had longed for over the last few months. But not just his body. Dax was here. All of him. I wanted nothing more than to appreciate every atom of his being.

We tangled together, hands and mouths finding the places we’d only pictured in our daydreams.
